Introduction

Subbulakshmi Annamalai is a Chennai-based artist who explores the themes of nature and divinity in her work. An artist who specializes in 3-D art using heavy texture acrylic paint in jewelled tones. She employs the techniques of sculpting and layering,which involve the blending, stacking and glazing of paint to create extraordinary depth, stunning designs and a three dimensional composition.

Rooted in the sacred land of Chettinad in southern India, the artist draws inspiration from chettinad architecture , from memories that shape the soul, and from the quiet language of florals. Her works reflect moments of inner awakening and spiritual reflection, expressed through richly layered textures that allow emotion, devotion, and nature to bloom across the canvas.

Subbulakshmi Annamalai is a Fine Arts student whose work in textured acrylic painting reflects a deep sensitivity to structure, rhythm, and spontaneity. Her inner and spiritual journey was deeply shaped by her father, Lp. A. Annamalai Chettiar, a man of unwavering principles and discipline. Through his guidance in the teachings of the Vedas ,Manushastra and The Gita, he instilled in her a profound sense of devotion, philosophical reflection, and connection to the divine — values that continue to form the spiritual foundation of her work.
